As anyone used one of these if so what are your thiughts

That would appear to be an original Dust Deputy. Before I say anything further I will disclose that I sell a clone of this and an improved version through my eBay store.
If you have never seen one of these at work you would not believe that such a simple design could achieve the debris separation efficiency that they do. There are Youtube videos of the various models in operation and plenty of other information on the web. I have sold over 100 of the 2 models and they are universally enthusiastically embraced. Regardless of the manufacturer or model you buy you would not regret it.

I have two of them, and they work great. I have one connected with 37 mm hose to my SCMS and a small industrial vacuum cleaner ( the sort cleaners carry on their backs when doing office cleaning), and the other on a trolley with an old Electrolux vacuum cleaner that gets wheeled around everywhere, connects to my sanders, routers etc. They are very efficient, and I rarely have to empty the vacuum cleaners or clean their filters.Highly recommended!!

I have mine screwed to 5 gallon metal paint tins, with handles, and have epoxied some heavy steel bar to the inside bases of the tins for balance, so they don't tip over.

Glad you're happy with it Fozzy. Once you've got one you can't understand why you didn't get one sooner! It just saves so much work cleaning filters (work for hours instead of minutes) and expense for bags. A low cost option for short sections of hose and versatile connection fittings is the rubbish bin out the back of your local vacuum cleaner specialist. I particularly like some of the pieces you can scavenge from the upright vacuums. I used to work in a scrap metal yard, old habits die hard.

Great nothing but bloody great. Go for it and don't think twice. I paid AUD $160 for it a few years ago so think about it.

I've been thinking......
as far as I know, all cyclones available to us for use in our workshops are made in the NORTHERN hemisphere SO do they therefore all twist the wrong way for the SOUTHERN hemisphere?
Are we being discriminated against ......is there a market opportunity for a Southern Hemisphere cyclone, could we take the Cyclone Central kit and bend it the other way.......
I've got a headache......
