Haha I dont think ill be using pine edging for the top. Ill see if I can get some gardwood I have ripped into lengths for the edges and steer clear of this stack of pine. I need to let it sit in the racks a bit longer. Hopefully this scortching summer predicted will help with that

I guess I was trying to quickly get something nice together because I said I vlcould build it when she was looking at ikea haha I guess the words nice and pine shouldnt be used in the same sentence.

Bunnings had some Dar pine out cheap a few months ago. Only short lengths but if you glue it to the edge of MDF, it will work fine.

Why don't you get a panel of veneered mdf. You can get it in some nice timbers, match it with some edge timber and you've got a nice bench top.

SWOMBO had a particular view in mind, i managed to get it sorted by not using that pine top at all, Bunnings had the panel i needed in the semi right size laminated with no twist or bending. Got the job done in the end, just going to paint it now.

Now moving onto the next project

Will be the last time i consider using pine for a bench top though unless its been sitting there for years and glue them up face side instead of edge
