    That's the good thing about buying from Aldi....it comes from the 'grocery' budget, not the 'discretionary spending' budget, or the always near-zero 'those tools you never use' budget.

    Having watched Mr Sellars give them a good wrap I think I would be able to live with them If i was in need of more chisels. I did look at them in aldi and was surprised how similar they were to two cherries chisels. Same factory perhaps? Aldi is a German company.

    Well they work just fine.
    I have flattened and polished the backs. They were all slightly hollow so it took little time to get them right. A bit of a rub on a 250 grit diamond plate and the backs were flat in no time at all.The bevels I hollow ground to 20 degrees and made them sharper than razors. I already have good chisels at 25 to 27 degrees so a bit of variety seemed in order. I have used them to make some half blind dovetails , using them as cheap substitute for paring chisels. They cut the silky oak and Tassy Myrtle just fine.

    They steel they are made of takes an excellent edge and the edge holds okay.
