    Default F16 airplane prototype

I want to attend a market in december, and I want to take some easy to make, sturdy, but realistic toys with me. Offcourse planes are a must have, so I want to create a few different ones.. Here is attempt #1. It is based on a F16 fighter jet. Because I don't like children playing with wartoys, it is refrained from bombs and missiles. Children will just see it as a very fast plane.

Because this is a prototype it is made from pine and birch ply. Easy to shape and very fast to cut. Please let me know your opinion on the design. I know the finish is not great (gaps etc) but that's not important in this case.

You've done a really nice job there.
The plane looks fast even in your hand.
I think kids will love it.
    Good one

    Cheers

    Default Nice one!

I'v been an aircraft nut all my life including a stint as a youngster in the Air force cadets. I like what you have done with this and I am sure a lot of kids would love it. I think you have nailed the scale. Best thing is you can leave it as it is or finish it to any further level you want to enhance it.

Nice looking plane the only thing I would personally change is where the back fin attached I would make it solid up to the black line to give the tail wings a bit more rigidity.

    Hope that makes sense

Looks pretty cool to me. Should be a real winner with the kids.

Well Bob, You've scored another home run with the forum mob so for-sure the kids will love it too...
May I suggest that make a couple of dozen as once one youngest sees them the rest will also want one too....
You can't beat a simple, strong well made wooden toy - first class job sir...
    Cheers, crowie

PS - Derek has a good idea for adding some extra long lasting playability......worth a look....

This makes perfect sense! It's suggestions like these that I can use. I will incorporate it into the productionline

That's a nice looking jet, only what it would look better is if it was a F-18 Superhornet. That's what my son flies.

Seriously, you got it right on that one. I think it will be a seller.

    PLD,
I had a look at the F18, but it has two tail wings, which is harder to make, and more breakable. I'm envy your son though, flying a jet at unimaginable speeds with G-forces we will never experience.
