hey that looks great John. Forgive me for asking but.....`concert uke?` It looks like a CBG to me. Please correct me as I`m a newb to all this. I have just finished the three that I`ve been building for a couple of months. Talk about a steep learning curve. I have two more to build now as my son saw them and now wants one and a mate also wants one when he saw the pics on my phone. Looking forward to making more too. I`ll post a thread in a few minutes and hopefully be able to post some pics of them. cheers, Graeme

Graeme,
Call it CBU then. It is 15'' scale length and tuned GCEA same as a concert Ukulele.

Was it a kit or did you scrounge all the bits?Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

My first build was a kit but since then I scrounge about for bits. This one is number 8. A kit is a good starting point but after that you want more input as to how it is made. The dream is to one day build real guitars and ukes.

a CBU it is then John...and a very nice one as well. I have to agree that the home made boxes sound better than the actual cigar box but I won`t tell my mate that.. I suppose that the cutaways in the sides of the home madies help the sound come out. I`m already thinking about the next build...cheers

Some cigar boxes sound better than others and I reckon it is down to the wood and size of the box. Being covered in paper does not help the sound any. The best sounding cigar box I have had so far was this one about A4 size. I also stripped out the paper from inside it.

have to agree about the sound....but....they look so nice in their `colours and brand names etc` . My main obstacle to using them is they are so flimsy compared to a home made box. Nice CBG BTW and I love the beer top for dials. cheers
