To paint or not to paint?
Hi,
I've just lined the inside of my new shed with some insulation and then ply. I am undecided if I should paint the ply or leave it bare.
What are the pros and cons with painting it?

I recommend painting it. It looks better, but also, if you choose a light colour, more light is reflected off it and your work area will be brighter

Well I'm going to insulate and line my new shed with pine as well, and I'll be painting it. Not only a nice bright colour to reflect the light, but also because I like a bit of colour...

The ply gives a nice ambience and more a woody feel but in a small shed like yours with limited natural light It will need painting white to make it feel brighter and rely less on artificial light.

Good Morning Peter
One wall and the ceiling of my shed is estapolled pine VJ, looks great, but it really absorbs the light and darkens the space.
Go for white or a very light neutral colour - you do not want an intrusive colour influencing your timber choices on special projects later.

Thanks for the advice. I am convinced..... Unfortunately because I hate painting, and I just finished painting the outside.

Have you considered liming it.
That will seal it against dust plus lighten it and still retain the wood look.
We did that to the internal doors in the house upstairs and it worked a treat.
Feast Watson was what we used.

Not if you fill it with shelving, cupboards, tool racks etc. Painting inside a shed shouldn't be a big job, cover everything, put on a one piece overall with a full face mask (preferably disposable), get out the BIG spray gun and go for it. Problem solvered. About once every 20 years should be enough.
