All great suggestions - isn't the Flying Scotsman a beautiful locomotive. Remembering you were the person who suggested the Lion (which I am grateful).

I should have a decision today. Up to the Railway Museum and will take heaps of photos so I can draw up plans (if I find a loco I am besotted with)

I do have a HO scale electric model of the Flying Scotsman but not heaps of detail on it - but could probably get something off it.

Thankyou so much to everyone who posted their suggestions and the interest shown on what locomotive I should be building next. Went up to Newport Railway Museum and I fell "in love" with a locomotive that was just inside the gate.
A decision has now been made.

It is a 4-6-2 tank locomotive that was built in 1910. It ran as a suburban passenger locomotive on the steeper grades around Melbourne. It was the last of it's class in service and was withdrawn in 1960 with 998,809 miles travelled.

I have taken well over 250 photos and taken measurements and sketches, much to the amazement of others who were at the museum. Lots of photos of the controls in the cabin as well.

Next step - go through all photos and then draw up and start up a new thread.

A great looking engine chosen for the next project Keith. It does not matter which engine you pick as all the old steam engines had character all of their own, even those that to some may seem ugly which this is certainly not well in my eyes.

A couple more photos. Got heaps of photos - particularly in cabin and the piston gear. Can go to great amount of detail in this locomotive build. Really looking forward to it. Will sort photos tomorrow and decide scale.
