This was my thought but there some other considerations. You really need to have a few beers with a sparky.

Electricity in North America offers 220 volts. However we use a phase differential type of voltage and we use a neutral or ground. While one half phase is + 110 volts to neutral or ground the other half phase is - 110 volts to neutral or ground. Our 220 volts is across the both half phases. Thus we have two "hot" leads. Our neutral is tied to ground or earth in the circuit breaker box.

As I understand your electricity is that the "hot" is 220 volts to neutral or earth. Not a big deal EXCEPT that here you may be trying to connect one of our hot leads to your machine earth.

Using your machine here might work, might trip breakers or kill the operator. Only a sparky knows for sure.
BTW - your motors will spin faster on our 60 cycle vs. your 50 cycle.
