    Default Help please....Timber angles

    Hi there friends!

Ok, I have provided a before pic that I am trying to replicate. I have no idea how to find the angles to cut the timber to as the two posts are down two steps and I want to put hand rails and also an 'X' in between. Please check out pics.

    Regards,

Mate, the way I would have a go is first cut on fit the 2 "horizontal" rails. Then hold the "x" pieces up and make direct onto them. Because some angles maybe "extreme" you might have to use a handsaw because a drop saw may not be able to swing around to what you want. Cut and fit one of the "X"s then the other one. Slide one in halfway then the other one up against and mark the intersection knock out the waste then slide everything home and job is done
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

if we know what the drop is from the top step (where top post sits) to the bottom step (where bottom post sits)
and if you give us the distance between the 2 posts
    And finally the height.

we can work it all out.

The picture tells us what you want to achieve but we need a few numbers to work it out for you.

    Need the yellow height.
The red height (the 2 steps together as one number is fine)
    the green width.

Like Rod said, just hold your timber up against the posts and mark straight onto the timber. Measure from top to bottom to keep the two rails parallel.
Those were the droids I was looking for.

Why not use the pieces you pulled out to mark the lengths and the angles of the cuts? You did keep them, didn't you?
