Garage shelving

About to build floating type shelving in my garage on sides, on the upper level of wall only so my car doors can open below.

shelves to be about 400mm deep.

thinking 50x25RHS bolted to brick work with out riggers at 1.0mt centre Welded with a welded fascia on it.

shelves to be mesh,

any ideas if this will be successful

sounds like a canter lever outrigger, similar to what you might find on a shed at the eaves to hold the eaves purlin and gutter out from the column.

if the "T" welds are adequate then all you have to worry about is bowing /sagging of the mesh at 1000mm centres as well as the weight of objects place on the shelf.

make sure the bolts are at about 600mm -900 mm centres to really anchor the batten to the wall ?

sounds like a nice minimal shelf set up.

perhaps welding outriggers whilst the batten is off the wall will allow good flat fillet welds, but be aware of distortion and maybe clamp a strong back on it during the process.

50 x 50 outriggers might give you some more surface area for weld? otherwise go with 50x25 in the upright orientation.

I was going to pre weld entire frame before putting up, might even consider getting it powder coated
