I've done the brick pattern layers previously with a router, (for a telescope) but it's a very time consuming process, and without the CNC, I probably would have opted for a simpler approach for this. I liked your PET bottle idea, I thought it was great!

It will be interesting to see what you come up with when you have a crack at the tailpiece

Anyway, I just uploaded a video sound sample. There's still a little setting up yet to go, but so far I'm pretty happy with it (Sorry for the dreadful playing!)

you hustler....you said you couldn`t play......

That's it for me.... Hours and hours and hours of filming that, reduced down to 1 minute of the least amount of mistakes!

That sounds as good as it looks. Remember they call it playing because it is play. Enjoy it and hopefully others will not complain too loudly till you are good enough to hold your own. You had me fooled anyway.

G'day Ray, I hope your (not so) new year is going well for you

There's no rods on this, instead I ran the neck through as a single piece. There's a screw under the tailstock to pull it in tight to the drum and another under the heel to hold that part firm. The fit in the mortise is tight, so everything holds itself together.

Hi Ray, this will give you a better idea of how it was all put together...
