Beautiful work. The BIC lighter size really shows us the intricacy of the work you do in the amount of detail in such a small size. Great skills.
    Terrific !!!!

Thanks mate glad you like it!.
You'd think building things at 2/3 scale you wouldn't have to worry to much about fiddley little parts but it surprising how often they crop up!.
I still have some very small parts to make for the carbie.

While looking around the net to find information on the Brough I found a picture and straight away I know it's the one for me to build.
I don't know if it strikes you the same way but to me when I first saw it I thought it looked like a model.

I think it's a fairly late version I'll need to found out as much as I can about it!.
But it's a beautiful looking bike.

    Cheers
    Trev.

I'd love to get stuck into the Brough, but now that the Harley's underway I'll keep going on it until it's finished.
The answer to how much is tons!.
To turn the Harley into what I wont apart from the engine and the gearbox I can pretty much throw the rest away.
Still I don't mind it's well worth the time and effort.

    Cheers mate

Someone once said to me 'dont re-do your old works. Keep them as they are so you can see your progression'

Mind you easier said then done. I have one bowl that I know could be so much better with as little as another 5 minutes on the lathe.

    Loving it Trev ...

Can't wait for that one, Trevor. And don't bother straying from those colours; it looks awesome the way it is (well, maybe different a guard colour, charcoal or gun metal grey rather than black perhaps.)

By the way, it's 1 1/2 scale grass, not a 2/3 scale Brough.

    Nice one.

I did say there where some fiddley bits and pieces to be made for the carbie.
I've been working on the throttle lever it still needs a few parts put on it.
I spent most of the day going cross eyed.

Sitting in place it looks like it should do the job.
Hopefully it should be finished tomorrow.

    Cheers
    Trev.

    Detail!

That will send you cross eyed, hope you got one of those large back lit magnifying glasses on a stand to work with like jewelers and watch makers use

    Default Amazing detail

Fabulous work as usual Trev. I am fascinated in the detail you put into the small castings, such as embossed part numbers etc.
Out of interest, is a Brough Superior a brand of bike, or a variation of a Harley Davidson bike? Either way, really looking forward to see that one get underway, but in the meantime, loving your restoration work.

    Have fun,

    Alan...

Love the super sized 5c piece you done, it looks like a real one

You got me pondering how I would tackle a similar build, even the detail on the raised lettering. Looks great!

George Brough's father made motorcycle's in England.
When George was old enough he started working for his father.
His father produced a good product but George was more interested in making the best motorcycles he could.
The Rolls Royce of motorcycles if you like.
Tension grow between the two and George end up going his own way.

As for the name Brough Superior the story goes that George was in a pub with a friend talking about his new venture.
The friend said that George was making Superior motorcycles and he went with the name "Brough Superior".
I bet London to a brick his father was none to pleased with the new business name!.

Glad your enjoying the work Alan. (work who am I kidding)

    Cheers mate

    Default Brough research

    Hi Trev,
I have finally been given the name of the poor demented and obviously lost soul who tours motorbike festivals and concourses in the UK through their summer months ( note the use of a lower case 's') and he is now awaiting instructions as to which model you want and he will photograph "the living daylights" out of it ...when he finds it.
He will photograph it from all 4 sides and then close-ups of the details.
    So ........which model ?

    That's brilliant fletty!.
My son likes the 39 Alpine.
I like the one that's at the top of this page I think it's late maybe 40's.
But then I'd really like to do a George!.
    Their all beautiful bikes.
Help a mate out what do you reckon?

    Cheers
    Trev.

jeez Trev, you don't make it easy for a bloke. ?

EMOTION says an early SS80 with a Swallow sidecar (and I would personally buy you a bold striped suit and cloth cap to display it)
PASSION says George IV or V (and I would personally buy you full Lawrence of Arabia clobber to display it) BUT they were one-offs and don't exist any more?
PRACTICALITY says a later SS100 (like pic at top of page)because we can all see and hear it on Jay Leno's YouTube clip and the comprehensive video gives great detail?

Given we would all like you to retain what is left of your sanity, I'd suggest PRACTICALITY?

    fletty

PS, mind you, I think a lot of people would pay to see you in full Arab garb?
