I am in the (very slow) process of organising a set of drawers to contain all kinds of tooly stuff in the shed. The Kaizen layered foam is ideal I think for the containment/separation of hand tools. Is there an Australian supplier. Our local rubber and foam shop only sells foam in different thicknesses, which would do the job but not as well as the Kaizen
    Just do it!

    Kind regards Rod

Thank you all for your suggestions. Bridger, your example was particularly inspiring (actually I was just JEALOUS!) but, the solution is in hand thanks to a sale at an antique and collectables shop I happened to park near today......

Flett-meister, are they copper handles or copper painted?

Would you get more into a drawer if you put the the pliers one inside the other - all the handle ends pointing the same way?

I haven't checked the handles but my trusty magnet says the basic structure is bronze painted/plated/ stained steel.
Ive been googling Kaizen foam. It appears to be available from a Stand-Up-Paddle (?) company in Northern Sydney but their own web page doesn't mention it? I found it on eBay but I then discovered it was coming from Amazon with a $200+ transport cost ...and then I noted in VERY fine print that they won't deliver to Oz anyway.......

I did that exercise with Rod (chambezio) and it wasn't cheap. P'raps Rod can fill us in, coz I've forgotten the detail now.

Alan that cabinet looks like it might just do in a pinch nice brazed corner welds.

I have s sheet/roll of foam something like this Alan but mine is thinner this thick is available just about anywhere at $2 shops, Bunnings or even Master usually in bright colours (thinking of your aging eyes) it would make it easier to locate the pliers you need.
I can't wait till the grand kids finish playing with the alphabet squares they have each about 15" sq.

Clarke Rubbers 'precut' foam works well for angular items but I'm about to give the curvey, svelte pliers a go too.

There's not nearly enough mess in that drawer, you can find stuff without picking through a mass of tangled sharp instruments. Dr. Freud would have something to say here.
Innovations are those useful things that, by dint of chance, manage to survive the stupidity and destructive tendencies inherent in human nature.

In spite of asking in 2 of their shops AND checking the webpage, Clarke Rubber DO carry a kaizen foam substitute......

    kaizenclone01.jpg

Although it initially looks expensive, a 1200 x 600 x 25 sheet is less than a quarter of the price of getting it from Amazon and friends!
I'll let you know how it goes,
