Default Look what happend to these

A couple of year ago I purchased some chisels for a forum member.

Added to these were others from flea markets etc...

Now I have time and have just finished my sharpening work bench I decide to 'spruce up' some of these chisels.

Most (I think all) were beaten to an 1" of there live with a hammer. Probably used to open paint tins etc... and genarally abused...(don't I hate that)

Anyway here are the results (4 mortice/firmer and 3 bevelled edge chisels). These are all Titans...

A couple of the 'pig stickers' are just about at then end of their life.

The 'pig stickers' were ground to 30 degrees and the bevelled edge to 25 degrees with a 30 degree secondary bevel.

Now for the weekend hunt around the flea markets.

Great job on cleaning up the chisels. Now it comes time to get more and you are still up to it.

Well done, Steve. 'Tis nice to see good old tools getting the sort of care they deserve!

    Cheers,

    Cheers,
You're right there Ian. I was taught to hit a chisel with a mallet not a hammer.

These will live out their days in comfort in my shed....not to be abused ever again. They will still be used though.
