Lost and Found, or Trash and Treasure? Not Sure Which One.
As you know at the moment for me it's all about cleaning out.
I'm getting close to the back of the shed, and found one of those things I started and never finished.
I'd pretty much committed myself to throwing it in the dumpster, when my son stepped in.
So it looks like R2's got a second chance.
I'll tuck him away (were I can remember his is this time) and he'll go on the to do list.
Poor little fellow I really had forgotten all about him.
It must be at least 15 years ago that I started building it.
His just made of MDF and PVC at 1 to 1 scale, so he should be pretty easy to repair and finish off.
Looks like I can't blame dear old Dad for all the stuff in the shed!.
Cheers
Trev.

Hey Trev,
You showed me your shed a few months ago when I visited Mildura, there is a few more treasures down the back I think, it's a gold mine.
Hope you can get cleaned up in reasonable time , so as to get back on the bikes. cheers John.

R2 will get finished in time although maybe not as an Esky, I was thinking more as a pot plant stand!.
But my sons pretty keen that I do it properly and have it remote controlled.
It would be fun to have R2 with the Dalek and K9!.
Thanks mate I'll get that info to you.
I'd really love to have a go at redrawing those Golden Hind plans.
I did a little digging on The Model Dockyard, it was started in 1932 by Captain E.H.James and was in Flinders Street.
It moved in around 1934 to 169 Elizabeth Street and from there to 216-218 Swanston Street in 1937 were it stayed until it closed.
So your plans could date back to the 1930's.
With working on the Harley being off the table at the moment I've been putting some time into Blueprints.
Mainly J.A.P motorcycle engines to help with the Brough Superior build down the track.
At the moment I'm working on a layout for a 1924 980cc OHV V Twin engine.
It's coming along slowly and there's still a lot of work to do on it.
The detail of the cams and rockers in the crankcase are a bit like trying to draw the antikythera mechanism.
Still good fun and keeps me out of trouble.
Cheers

Lucky for me it looks like we'll be friends for a long time yet!.
R2 is safe and sound and will get finished down the track.
I've nearly got the place cleaned out.
But it's funny going down to Aroundagain (recyclers) and seeing your own family stuff!.
I'm just waiting for that moment when I pick something up that looks like it would be really useful, and realize it was mine in the first place!.
Still it's nice to be able to give something's back to help them make money.
They've given me so much over the years!.
Cheers

Hi Trev,
There was a 10 minute section on Foxtel "Britains Wonderful Machines" (or something like that) on the Brough Superior. Taped it for you to look at. Evidently, every bike had to be ridden at 100mph during testing before it could be sold to a Customer. They had a "race" between a Brough and a Gypsie Moth and the Brough won. The windshield on the Brough was tiny. Interesting .....
Regards
Keith

Thanks mate I look forward to seeing it.
As you say not much in the way of streamlining on the Brough with only that tiny windshield.
But you don't need much when you've got a ton of grunt!.
Talking about motorcycles and aeroplanes I found a cross-over that you and fletty would like.
A five cylinder radial Verdel made in France in 1910.
I'm surprised the idea never really took off!.
But a great looking bike never the less.
Cheers
Trev.
