Default What did this come off?

I picked up three of these motors and I was told that they came off a piece of woodworking equipment.

They have four bearings bolted to the base and a very short stub arbour, with another darn internal Lh Thread.

The motor has no visible data to it's specs, but it was sold as a 240V 2HP 2 pole 2800RPM

With that orange colour, maybe it's a cast off from the Triton product development team!

It could have been part of a Router Mill although these just normally use a regular router.

The reason I'm asking is if I can identify the machine I may be able to get the original shaft bolt/fitting so I can mouth pulleys to the motors

It can't have been doing too much as it's not using a keyway.
It might have been using a pulley with a hole cut to fit that specific arbor shape but I suspect it was just using a grub screw.
It looks like a std 8mm bolt .

There us a step in the shaft and two flats on the smaller section. Like spanner flats. The thought was there may have been a matching slot in a hub and then a bolt to retain it on the shaft. At 2hp it needs to hold well

sorry I didn't see the other flat the hole in the pulley will then most likely be a match.

    Hi,
Could it have been some sort of sliding saw and just take a blade with spacers, the outer one with matching flats?
    Just a guess.

I'd say it either moved on some sort of track or the track moved past the motor given the bearing set on the frame, other than that I don't know.

    Default The Motors.

    Hi DSEL74,
I'm leaning to Sheppack ?? as it seems to be more Yellow than Orange, or the Photo is playing tricks on us.

    Just a thought.

I suspect it could be from a radial arm saw.

The bearings ride in a pair of grooves and the whole unit slides forward and back. My DW 125 RAS uses 3 bearings, offset, but works the same.

    Bob

Radial arm saw. Don't know brand or size. But that'd be what the bearings are for, to roll along a fixed track.

It is pretty much Triton orange. Although triton don't seem to have made a radial arm saw from what I could find on google.

I do tend to agree that a radial arm saw makes a logical conclusion. Can I get some photos of the saw arbour from the ones you have please?
