Default 'Making' a Scrub / Fore plane

There was a thread ... by Luke I think ... asking about scrub planes, if I remember correctly.
I had a brief look but couldn't locate it.

This video covers a few useful things ... I think it's quite good.

Yeah, that was me. My dad ended up getting me an awesome Stanley #40 for my 30th, but I will definitely check this out. Interested to see what others are using.

Veritas Scrub plane - I reied them all: Stanley, ECE, Ulmia etc. Veritas is head and shoulders better - and is not expensive at all - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ru7d9aF-faM

    Just my 2 cents

Forgot to mention - ad important - with PM-V11 blade is just stellar

I use an early 19th century style jack, and a rank set continental smoother (an old one) for anything more coarse than that. I've had all manner of scrubs, including both types of premium (LN and LV).

For someone dimensioning wood by hand, I haven't found anything better than wooden planes for all work up to smoothing (still like a stanley 4 for smoothing better than anything else).
