    Default Toymaker at large.....

Toymaker at large..... G'Day One & all, well it's finally happened and we're off to the UK & Finland this evening...

I'm going to miss the shed as I've been putting off starting a new toy with the departure date looming and besides it's still damp with water seepage through the sandstone....

While we're away I'll try to have a look at the forum from time to time as we get WiFi access in some of the hotels but for most will be busy sight seeing in UK then busy at the World Gymnaestrada in Helsinki supporting the Springwood Boys & Girls Club display team plus my beautiful wife [coach/manager of the team].
I'm hoping to chat with Derek [aka Dalboy] whilst we're in London but he's about an hour & a half south and with only 3 days in London, it's a bit tight for a visit.

Anyway gents & ladies, be good, enjoy your woodwork & toymaking, encourage each other....talk in a while, Cheers, Peter

Good luck! Take your time for London, it's a big city, make sure you plan what you want to see. Walk as much as possible, only use the subway for the long trips, or if your feet can't take you anywhere anymore. That way you will see much more than you can imagine now.

If you like to take a walk in a calming environment, take a look at Brompton cemetary. It is a large cemetary, when I was there around 10 years ago people were biking and jogging through it. Also a lot of squirrels which came very close to steal a few breadcrumbs. It has a lot of old graves and is a beautiful place to see. Not the most usual of places to visit in London, but it is one of my best memories from there.

Default Man it's a long plane trip.

Well we arrived safely in London after travelling some 28hrs, found our way to West London on the subway & our hotel. We did a short walk around but boys it's busy, cars, buses & people everywhere plus you hear so many different languages spoken. Prices seem okay except the pounds to Aussie dollars is only 46pence; ouch. Today we did a walk around some of Hyde Park gardens plus a tour trip to Windsor Castle, but didn't meet the Queen. The woodwork inside is magnificent but photography is forbidden. The Queens dolls house is beyond believe. Another early night as 6am rise to meet tour bus to Leeds. Photos will follow when I can use Tracey's laptop. Thanks everyone for good wishes & tips. Cheers Peter

I spoke to one of the attendants about the most Beautiful wood carving in Windsor Castle which were hanging on so many walls. They were by Grinling Gibbons for which I have added a link below.

Glad you had a good day and enjoyed the wood carvings as well as the dolls house. I did get the rain about an hour after your last message even if it was only a very quick shower I did try to order sun shine for you but even I ain't that good
