old fruit bowl restoration
Hi guys,
This old fruit bowl I made 6 years ago, It would have been
one of the first things i made on my old lathe, it was looking a bit
tired so i gave a bit of a spruce up, I didn, t want to change the shape
cos thats the shape i gave back then (not that i would make it that
shape now!) anyway just sanded back and used some food safe
Plus mineral oil from U-Beaut , came up a treat,,,
not sure if it needs a finish or will the mineral oil
be enough ? Any comments appreciated !
Included a couple of before and after photosCheers smiife

Very nice, came up well. Camphor ? I've had to refinish a few of my old fruit bowls with rotten fruit stains, tomatoes a main culprit . I'm using WOP now to make them "washable".

Come up a treat
I understand keeping the overall shape, however, I would have removed the mount for a foot of some description and updated the signature. As for finish, the food safe oil is good but it does mean it is susceptible to staining, my choice would have been NCLNeil____________________________________________Every day presents an opportunity to learn something new

fruit bowl.
I am a bit like you. If I am updating for finish I don't like to change what I have done in the past, even
if I would have done it different now. I can't see at problem with foodsafe/mineral oil, but NCL is good.
Whatever rocks your boat, eh., particularly at Armidale. The NCL might freeze me thinks. Drillit.

Hi neil,
Yeah...I thought about changing It but like I said
thats was 6 years ago and I can look back and see
where I went wrong and do things differently now,
I remember the finish you had on your grinders but
not too sure on how and what I need to use ?
Thanks Dave
Thanks drillit,

NCL freeze.........nah .....
