    Default Two Little men

Having seen these on various forums and liking them I have decided to make a couple. So here is the start progress is going to be slow even though they are simple as I am making other things at the same time but not toy related.

The first two parts not yet glued. Turned the heads and cut the bodies as well as sand any sharp corners that need doing

The pieces below the body assembly are the belt and leg support which still need to be shaped

Just a general view of the woods I am using the three bits on the left are for the legs and arms I still need to dig some out for the hands which will be the same colour as the head

Good one Derek - or should I say two.

Glad you are on the lathe. Look forward to the progress of these guys.

Only the heads turned on this one Keith

Some more time spent on them I keep meaning to get some sanding discs for the plate I have that fits onto the lathe. So spent some time pealing off the one that was on it today and using photo mount spray fitted a piece of sandpaper sheet and cut off the excess. And it works great.

Rough cut the legs and arms on the scrollsaw and proceeded to sand the legs on the disc it certainly made this job a lot easier time well spent.

Also cut and sanded the leg dividing piece. I have started to do the final shaping of one of the arms only three more to do.
In the photo the left is the rough cut arm and the right the one I have started to round off still needs work.

These will not have moving arms or legs they are really a static toy or display piece.

Just for Peter (Crowie) did you notice the resin on the bench I spilled a bit

Looking good. I too have seen these around and have added one to the to do list. It's a little hard to tell from the photos but what size are they? Looking forward to following the progress.

    Derek,

My wood turning mate came around yesterday and I showed him your men. He was really impressed. Do you have any plans or is it just something you make up as you proceed. If you have plans - he would be rapt.

    Best Regards

    Keith

Thank you Peter and Keith they have been claimed by two of the great grandchildren already only minutes after bringing them in from the shed and photographing them.
