Default Pull Along Block Spinners x 3

Well "Handy" has finally got a big smile on his face, along with his new mate "Wally"...

Tracey gave the last of the "Pull Along Block Spinners" away as a gift so the order came to me for another three [3]...

I'd been given a whole bundle of profiles "Tassie Oak" boards so some of this has been used for the wheels
and some of the left-over 4x2 pine from the re-roof ripped down the centre for the blocks....
Some of the shorts pieces of "Tassie Oak" have already gone in the fire; I have a couple of mates that will take some while I'll keep as much as I can, but alas about half will help keep the house warm next winter...

This time I spent the time to make a jig for drilling the blocks and YES, so much easier...

While I've been doing some sorting & cleaning in the shed, it's good to be back in the shed making wooden toys...
    Here's a few photos...Cheers, crowie

If they come out like that last lot they will look fantastic. Is there no paint on the outside of the tyre so that they grip on the blocks?
I like the idea of the round bar to mount everything on for painting. How much clearance do you have between the hole in the blocks and the dowel?
Looking forward to the finished articles. Have you used all that paint you referred to in the last build?
For me, the only drawback in making toys is having to paint them (I detest painting).

Looks like you have made a great start. Yes I agree that making jigs for multiple items certainly makes things easier as well as speed things up

G'day Dallas.... Questions answered below, I hope.....

I have always left the tyre of the wheels without paint I think so as it doesn't wear off and make the toy look shabby too quick.

The dowels in the base are either 6mm or 1/4", with the block holes at 7mm or 7.5mm giving a 1mm clearance which is still a challenge for little fingers [good for fine motor skills development]..

Yes on the painting, this lot will be painted similar to the previous lots and yes the lengths of booker rod or round bar do help making the slow task of painting a little easier.

    Cheers, Peter

    Thanks Derek,
These toys have been a popular gift to give by my girls so I thought it was about time I did the jig for the blocks.
Certainly speeds things up as you mentioned..

Well done Crowie, very colourful. Soon you will be able to get on with the more exciting stuff doing the truck instead of painting.
