Help finding a 5/8" mitre gauge for a 12" disc sander
Hi, can anyone point me in the direction for a replacement mitre gauge for a 12" disc sander that is a non standard size, my track measures 16mm (5/8") wide. I only been able to find the 3/8 x 3/4 sized mitre gauges thus far.

What brand of disc sander have you got? Is it an after market mitre gauge that you're after or genuine?

It's a Carbatec brand, but not the same as the model they now sell. I bought it around 10 years ago. I'm not fussed about what I put on it, so long as its square and doesn't cost as much as a replacement sander . I'll give Carrolls a call later.
Cheers.

If you can't find a replacement thy are not that hard to make.
This one uses a
- half inch wide slide, (this one is dove tailed to hold it in place but that is not essential)
- piece of 1" Al angle
- a semi circle cut from a piece of 6mm thick Al plate
- a strip of 3mm Al to act as the locking mechanism.

Hah! that one looks a damn side more accurate than the one my sander came with originally! I might just give that a go. Any chance of getting some more photos? I'm keen to see how you have attached the slide to the mitre edge to give the angle adjustments.

The attachments are as follows.
All screws are M4
Screws 1 and 2 are SS Allen countersunk screws and attach the angle to the semicircle underneath
They pass through the Al Angle and screw into threaded holes in the semi circle.
NB the semicircle piece is centred on screw 3 so it is a bit more than a semi circle so the angle can sit properly on top of the semi circle
Screws 3 and 4 are counter sunk SS Allen screws - I like using Allen screws because they tighten in a more positive firmer manner.
Screw 3 passes thru the slide - semi circle - and locking strip.
Screw 4 goes between the slide and the locking strip
The heads or these are flush with the underside of the slide
5 just holds a small piece of Al to the locking strip and acts like a sort of a brake pad when 4 is tightened.
The pad is the same thickness and the angle
The nut on 3 has been replaced by a nylock and the one on 4 by a threaded brass knob.
To adjust just loosen 4 and turn the mitre as required and then tighten 4 again.
