Default Need some instruction with depth/hight maps

    Hey G'day folks,

Does anyone know of a good tutorial or can instruct how to make a proper depth/height map. I can make them but I always run into a problem with depth.

Making a 3d model then rendering a depth map so I can make an stl and cnc the model.

I can never seem to get a depth map that has enough detail.

If I play with the intensity of the whites I can increase depth but then end up with spikes instead - so not a great solution.

    Thanks in advance.

    Regards,

    Steve

Try this site. In the tutorial section they have some info that could be of value.

Way over my head but could be of some value to you.
