    Default Samson air regulator

    Hello

Picked this up from the work skip bin when they were moving.
Nothing wrong with it as far as I know.

I connected it but just want to know that I've done it right.

Incoming from compressor on the RHS through the yellow line and outgoing to tool on the left through blue nipple.
    Is this correct ?

When adjusting the pressure it keeps venting air through a small hole near the adjusting handle.

Is this normal or have I got it connected backwards ?

Also guessing that closing the valve allows more air to tool and visage versa ?

    Thanks gents

    Matt

These are a very good old water drain/regulator when operating correctly. You have yours connected correctly, and there is provision for a second regulated outlet below the outlet pressure gauge, as well as for an inlet pressure gauge on the left side. The bad news is; if you have an air discharge from the bleed hole in the regulator bonnet, this is an indicator of a fatigued and cracked diaphragm. These diaphragms which are made of some kind or stainless metal are no longer available from Samson as a spare part.

I also had one of these regulators with this problem, and was able to make a replacement diaphragm from the corrugated lid of a soup can. It's not stainless, only plated and painted, but is still going strong after five years.

    Hey Chas,
Yet another helpful response and you are bang on. Opened it up this arvo and found the cracked diaphragm.
    56mm diameter.

I'll give the soup can lid a go and will also try and hunt down a stainless replacement from somewhere. Have you still got yours ?

There is one on eBay currently for sale. Check it out.

Thanks again for your help. Much appreciated.
