Default Not a toy, Not a model

I see this item in a staff room where I sometimes work.
It is not fully detailed but has some detail and clearly has some wooden components.
I am not sure what it is based on, perhaps the Cowley traction engine as the wheels do not have spokes.
Unfortunately I do not know who made it or when, and it is not on public display.

I would not call it a toy, nor necessarily a model.

    G'day Kevin,
Whether a toy or a model, someone has put a stack of time and effort into making it and it looks pretty damn good.
    Cheers, crowie

The line drawing is of Z526, the first engine made at the Victorian Railways Newport Workshop. It was later converted to a steam crane. In the 1980's the crane was removed and the engine restored to its built condition for display by Museum Victoria. An image of it is in post #439 of Keiths 4-6-2 Tank locomotive - circa 1910.

    Default Z526, aka "Polly"

Just for Dalboy is a copy of the line drawing. Also is an image of the engine as a steam crane - note the incorrect date that has been corrected (1893 not 1883). I am not sure of the age of the photo as the last line of still being in service is now well out of date.
The first image is the display board with the engine at Scienceworks.

A couple more images of the "model".
First image shows the cylinder and piston rod. No valve gear/reversing gear is present.
Second image high lights the detail of the bearing blocks. Oil holes and lock nuts are visible.

Keith, the engine in the railway museum, steam crane No. 2 was built by Dubs & Co in Glasgow in circa 1890. (My catalog of museum exhibits lists the build date as 1881 & 1891. Yet web page http://www.australiansteam.com/2.htm mentions 1890.) I would say Z526 was altered to copy the Dubs product.
