Wood Machinists tool box
Always drooled over Machinists tool boxes these wooden works of art many made by the owners as part of their training in the early days.
I have some nice Jarrah and Tassie oak sitting waiting I was checking out some designs/styles and came across this one

Now that is a tool box. Great in a workshop but no good when you get to the first step outside the shop.

Very nice wheelinround.
I've always liked the Gerstner/Starrett boxes but that one you've linked to is a ripper !!
Interesting that the roll front appears to drop underneath on the lower cabinet.

That's bloody ambitious Ray, work in progress photos will be definitely needed.

I think you should make 2 or 3 of these as a little production. One would look great under a line shaft ;-)

Mine will be just a humble style to fit on the shelf beside the lathe for easy access.
Mind you if I spot a roll top desk by the side f the road it may just get converted.

See replay to Christos Chris LOL
Edited Chris I have no room for one that size for starters I wish I had. Nor do I have the table saw, router table benches to make one as large. but as most of the Jarrah and Tassie Oak has been dressed I am well on my way to thinking it should be done.Last edited by wheelinround; 10th November 2015 at 01:27 PM. Gday Ray. I have this stained pine unit if you want it. Dove tailed drawers.Roll top works fine. All you have to do is call round & take it away.Have ramp access.
Stands 1240H x 460D x 722W. Open area under drawers is: CIMG0017.JPGCIMG0018.JPG585H x 457D x 693W. Few bumps & scratches. Nothing major at all.
