    Somehow the saw looks unbalanced: A bit too short. The end of the spline can still be pinched. You just cut the handle end instead (off the saw of course.) However, I don't think it is a mitre saw. Mitre saws are 11ppi. Also the heel is normally curved: The tenon saw is cut straight like this Thylacene's

    I have the same saw, it's a 10" too, I think it's the real deal. Mine carries an etch. Cost me $5.00 and $20.00 to sharpen. I've posted to this forum previously about this. I took a rasp to the handle to make it fit my chubby arthritic hands. It has become a very handy user.
