Hall table.. First project
Having spent three weeks in "the shed' building a router table/dovetailer and then lashing out on a new bandsaw. SHMBO suggested that it might be a good idea if I made something with all this new equipment.
Required a "tall and narrow" table to fit against the wall in the hall!
Had a very domed piece of red cedar, about 1000*300*30, which I trued up with a plane and then finished with a card scraper.. that was a learning curve, as the grain seems to run every which way and there were several knots in it. resorted to a spoke shave in some of the difficult areas.
Finished the legs and frame with the spoke shave and scraper. Dove tail machine worked a treat as well...finished with tung oil.
Scrapers and spoke shave are great, as I can play CD's and not worry about dust.. think I will visit the dark side ! plan to get that DVD on hand dovetailing.
Could not have done this without all the info that was available in this forum , in all the various strings that I refered to.
So much to learn, should have started years ago.

Awesome work. That looks really, really good. And as a first project you've got to be happy with the results of that table.

Nice table Paddy.

Very very nice. I like the non-standard use of dovetails for the apron, boldly exposed for all to see. I take it the legs have tenons glued inside the frame corners?
Nice balanced proportions, and gently curved legs. Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

Very nice work Paddy. You should be well pleased with it. But did SWMBO like it??? Did you get lots of compliments??

Nice work mate. Love the dovetails.
How did you fix the legs to the apron?
