Nice looking piece, Only comment I have is the Knob is inappropriate for a Shaker piece, It would have been a wood knob.

Other tha that the lines are good and clean.

I wasnt too worried about the knob, I just wanted it to look cool for my room. Also, i dont know much about the shaker design, so i wouldnt have even known that. Thanks for the reply.

    BryanB,

The Shakers had strong moral objections to anything that they considered excessive ornamentation in furniture or other goods. Brass knobs are specifically forbidden to Believers in the Shakers' Millennial Laws of 1845. Christian Becksvoort has written an interesting book on Shaker furniture called The Shaker Legacy. You might find it worthwhile to borrow it from your library.

I have to admit that, like you, I have used brass knobs on some items of Shaker-style furniture I have made.

Nice thing about woodwork is you can always make it your own, traditional styles or completely original. I once made a shaker style bed side table with a mechanical push lock/knob on it. Glad to see young fellers gettin into the woodwork! Like what you've done, cheers!
    Ruining great woodworks since 1996.

    Wecome, Bryan! Nice work!

btw - what sort of guitar do you play? Another healthy pursuit (as is woodwork) for a young person! Good for you (or 'Good on you' as us Aussies say!).

    Cheers,

    Jill

Nice little table Bryan, & welcome to the madhouse.

Can I suggest it would have looked lighter with a 45deg chamfer under the tabletop. That would have gone well with the nicely tapered legs.

Great start to your course though - where are you doing it?
