Wow! You can build boats out of something other than alu or fibreglass? Who would have thought...
Fabulous! Absolutely fabulous. Something to be proud of indeed!
DamienIs it wrong to be in love with a sawbench?

It is a Catspaw Dinghy - original lines by Nat Herreshoff about 100 years ago, redrawn with a shorter rig and centreboard by Joel white in the 70s.
Huon Pine over kauri ribs, the dark wood is Karri. 12' 6" with a sprit rig. I am hoping to launch on Albert Park Lake later this year.
cheers

Beautiful curves. Looking forward to seeing progress.
Those are my principles, and if you don't like them . . . well, I have others.

Hi WRB,
Sensational looking dinghy. Is this your first boat? Will it be varnished or do you plan to paint, fiberglass, etc?
Can't wait to see more pics as you finish it off.
Regards,
Darren

This is my first real woodworking project so, you don't want to look to closely at it. I will varnish most of it and will paint the interior up to the seat rails. I am slowly running out of Huon so, will need to improvise the rest of the interior. I am going to put floors in it (not in the original design) and have a combination of plank and grate sole on two levels. You may notice that the rear seat is just a pattern at the moment. I have run out of wide boards so, need to get some hoop pine or QLD maple (can't source or afford wide huon at the moment)
Thanks for the comments.
Darren, PM me, I have a lot of thin huon scrap that may be of use to you for modelling
cheers
