Default How to dress 'smartly' in downtown Kyogle on a shoestring.

Kyogles a pretty hip country town, uno .....so you gotta dress smartly.

Well at least according to my wife. Personally, I don't give a stuff. As long as I don't walk around town with me old fella hanging out I'm pretty happy.

Anyway heres a tip on how to get 'good' clothes cheaply. Shop at a country lifeline store. Or any of the other OP shops.

See, how it works is, people in wealther towns chuck their 'old' clothes in those bins.....and cause nobody likes to see someone walking around wearing their old clothes the lifeline shops 'swap' donations......so, in Kyogle, we get all the donations that come from places like Byron bay.

So, I think its just bloody hilarious. Instead of the kyogle folks walking around in their usual Hard yakka atire, stubbies etc, we're all walking around in Raulph Lauren and polo shirts.....uno, the kinda clothes that new cost a fortune a piece. Instead of $80 bucks a piece new, there 80c here. And nothings so funny as a big farmer dressed that way, yelling........' get ova here, ya mungral ! '..or....' get stufffed, mate !'

And these clothes are generally still in good nick. Some look brand new, as though they were dumped just because they started to look 'boring'.

    anyway, I hope that helps

    Hey Jake,

A shoestring would be a pretty rare commodity in Kyogle wouldn't it? You know, with all those second hand rubber thongs around the place!

"how to dress smartly in downtown Kyogle on a shoestring"

"how to dress smartly in downtown Kyogle in a shoestring"

Yep, shore do. I'm right in the middle of town opposite the library. The stations just a couple hundred metres away.

Why ? .... Do you want to expand your wardrobe ?

My mum brought me home a shirt from the Op shop a couple of years ago and it was identical to one I already had in my cupboard, so now I've got two the same. Good thing I like it/them. Except if I wear one on Friday and then the other on Saturday, people think I'm wearing the same shirt two days in a row.

Best thing I ever bought in an Op shop was a Navy great coat. They used to call it my 'Flasher Mac'. Might be time to dust it off again.

I went there once, (the library in Kyogle) . It reminded me so much of the one in Gympie, almost all the books were already coloured in.

A mate of mine bought seven Hawaiian shirts for $12.00 at Airlie Beach on route to a seven day holiday on Lindeman Island, then gave them back on his way home.

    Cheers,

    P

...its a pretty small library all right. Not much to offer. But they do have a good booksale about every 6 months to raise money to buy new books. I got lucky last year. Amongst the books I fished out an old copy of ' a cabinetmakers notebook ' by krenov.....Got it for $2.... just the thing I'm into. .....the librarians are nice though. I like librarians. I think if I ever was to re-marry I'd marry a Librarian.

We're the green house opposite, right next to the council, so we can't get away with anything ! The ranger and the Mayor...etc.

I've given up caring what people think about what I wear, as long as its clean. I don't like flashy logo's though or bright colours. Greys a good colour. Actually I feel more comfortable in old clothes than new. My wife bought me a new hat the other day, but I still can't bring myself to wear it. Prefer my old ragged one.

My wife, the darling, volenteers her time at lifeline. We get all our clothes from there. Mostly for the kids. I wouldn't mind getting a flashy coat one day too......

Flasher mac.....<- nickname ? ...for pretending to flash your privates with that coat on ?

Nah, it was the pommies who used to call it my Flasher Mac - as in Macintosh, which is what they call a raincoat.

Hey, that shirt I've got two of is grey. I've got three grey shirts and a black one. The missus bought me a white one but I wont wear it cause it makes me look like a waiter. 'cept for the rough head. No-one would give me a job as a waiter, might scare the customers.
