Hi ryanclan and welcome
For external cutting, try a map of Australia ... they make great coasters (and give your wrists a good workout ) or cut some simple puzzles using a kid's colouring in book.

<HR style="COLOR: #c0aa94" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title -->Welcome ryanclan, I'm attaching a pattern of mine that isn't extremely hard to cut... I set this up to be used for a tealight pattern...after cutting from 1/2" wood you would attach it to a base that had a cut out for a tea light to sit in. You can alway upsize them and use them for anything else you want...I'm offering this to you and anyone else on the forum that wants it. On the pattern the black it to be cut out.
Another avenue to look at for cutting would be children coloring books....The ones with the larger areas for coloring. Those make nice puzzle type patterns for the kids. Any silhouette type pattern is usually fairly easy to cut and not hard to make your own...you just need the outline of something...

Hi
Your local library is a good place to try for pattern books, my shire libraries have several spread through the various libraries that I have hired out. Saves buying them and using 1 or 2 patterns from the book.
A good book for beginner pattern is this one, see if you can find a copy of it.Brett

Ryan, check out the Easter Bunny Puzzle in this, the Scrollers Forum. It is very popular with younger kids, through to adults. Print it out to A4, stick it on the chosen wood, with spray glue and get that saw a buzzing.

To be honest I have found no problems working with 20-30mm hardwoods. The saw I use is a DeWalt. The blades are more coarse for this work say a number 5 or 7 - did this a little while back https://www.woodworkforums.com/showth...812#post272812Cheers
