Default Who's work is this ?

The "bowl" shown below was carved from a single piece and was on display at last years T&WWWS (2006). I have forgotten who did the work, possibly Richard Vaughan, but am unsure.

I would very much like to know as I was in a gallery in Noosa recently and the owner expessed a lot of interest in the work and I would like to pass on the contact to the owner.

Just as an aside thge sculptor told me the story of the piece, it took him 5 months to carve and he successfully sold it in America to a collector only to have it smashed by the shipping courier (!!). To add insult to injury they smashed it again when they were returning it to him after the first blunder !!!!!!!

    Thanks for your help

That looks like the bowl crafted by Robert Howard from Brisbane.

I was a student of his last year and that looks very much like his.

    Thanks Buzzer

It could well be him. I am fairly sure that the person who did the piece came from Brisbane. Do you have some contact details for him? I would like contact him directly. It is one of the most stunning pieces I have ever seen

    Thanks

I'm pretty sure it is Robert Howard's. Australian Wood Review would probably be able to put you in contact, as he often writes for them.

There is one at Naturally Australian Sydney at the moment. It was sold and delivered to the US. Unfortunately it was badly damaged on the way there and it broke into 70 pieces. The client returned it and got a full refund.

Somehow Robert put it back together in one piece.

    Thanks to you all

I have had a reply from Robert, it is indeed his work, spectacular isn't it !!

Wongo the piece that is in Naturally Australian may be the one he had on display at last year's T&WWWS - it had been broken in transit to a US collector and was returned - its magnificient isn't it!

This sort of beauty and skill can only continue to inspire all of us.
