Trade Tools planes?
Hey guys,
Just wondering if any of you have an opinion on the cheap planes trade tools direct have for sale (see http://www.tradetools.com.au/ProdVie...oduct=PNEO0043).
Are they OK for a newbie to use, or is it better to avoid them? The price is right...

In My opinion leave them alone, for that sort of money you could buy a S/H stanley or sargent and you will have a much better quality tool.
All my planes are pre WWII except a lie-neilsen, if you want to buy new go for quality. ( lie-nielsen, veratas, clifton)If it goes against the grain, it's being rubbed the wrong way!

They are not the best to use but they do work. Most schools that I have been buy the new planes for restocking the workshops and they do work reasonably well.
If you can try get to some markets and see if you can pickup a second hand one for around the same money. There are some markets at Fernvale which apparently have some good tool sales which might be worth a try if you get out that way.Have a nice day - Cheers
