    Default All Cherry

This box is all made from Cherry. The dimensions are 12"x9"x3.75" tall. The bottom of the inside is divided into six spaces with a removable divider and there are two trays that ride above. It is finished inside and out with a coat of drying oil. The outside of the body and the entire lid are French polished with shelac. The whole box was then buffed with a coat of Canuba wax. Hinges are made by Brusso and are self stopping at 95*. The liner is a synthetic suede and will not tarnish silver.

This is one fine looking box. The cherry makes it soft looking and really wants to make you pick it up. Great Job!

I noticed that and was curious about that joint. Also, the raised top appears to have a bevel to it. I wonder how you can do that?

Thanks for the kind words. I have been really busy with work and all lately hence my bad manners on not commenting on some incredable work I have seen in the last few months. I do seem to have an open day on sunday scheduled for my shop time and if you all can wait till then, I can try to put together a how-to post on the mitered bridle joint.
sbolton- The miter on the lid was done by running the panel on edge through a router using a 45* champher bit.

I will look forward to that post about the bridle joint. Thanks for answering the question regarding the bevel.

    You are very accomplished.

Gecko you did a beautiful job on that box. I believe that's one from David Freedman's book. It's an elegant looking box I think and that mitered bridle joint looks great. You do good work!

I tried to fine the book you referred to "David Freedman's book" but could not. Do you have a way of finding it, or the title.

    Thanks
