My son had a hobby shop and was involved in radio controlled boats, planes etc. He bought a set of plans for the 'cracker box' boat and we built a 'plug' (which we still have) from which we made a mould for making fibre glass models. He used a 'genoa' moter which I think is a modified whipper snipper motor. He achieved speeds up to 60 kph. Timed with the help of a friendly police officer with his radar gun. The cracker box is regarded as a pure drag racer and does not turn well at high speeds. He had another boat which was about 5 feet long, we still have the mould for that hull. The major problem was finding a convenient stretch of water to play on.

Just in case anyone goes searching for them, the "adapted" whipper snipper style motors are Zenoah.
Some links which may be of interest to any aspiring RC boaters are............:
http://www.ampba.asn.au/initial.htm This is the Aust., associations site, has links to clubs and their own forum. Some nice guys there but some seem to take themselves too bloody seriously .
http://www.intlwaters.com/index.php? A fantastic US based forum with an active membership. A fair few local guys seem to prefer to post there rather than the above mentioned forum.

I too would like to get hold of some model boat plans.
I'm interested in building some sort of classic style speed boat, like the Riveara or simillar to it.
I would like something about 45inch's long or thereabouts, I know I'm being a bit fussy but, If you don't ask, you won't know !!!
Any info is much apreciated....
Thank you all.......
