Default Single Bed Plan and Dimensions

I am wanting to build a single bed for my daughter, but I am having trouble finding the correct dimensions, and some suggested heights for the mattress off the ground. Lots of double and queen bed plans available. Anyone got any ideas. Cheers!

Yeah, I've got an idea. Go to a store that sells beds and measure a single bed for height, width, etc. I'm not being a shyte, really (though you may think so) but it is just like a story stick. That's why Norm goes and measures antiques before he builds a prototype. Sometimes simplest is best.
    Cheers,

The following is a list of mattress sizes from a major mattress manufacturer.

    King: 6' x 6'8" = 183cm x 204cm
    Queen: 5' x 6'8" = 153cm x 204cm
    Long Double: 4'6" x 6'8" = 138cm x 204cm
    Double: 4'6" x 6'2" = 138cm x 188cm
    Wide Single: 3'6" x 6'2" = 104cm x 188cm (3/4 Bed)
    King Single: 3'6" x 6'8" = 104cm x 204cm
    Long Single: 3' x 6'8" = 90cm x 204cm
    Single: 3' x 6'2" = 90cm x 188cm

However mattress sizes can vary slightly between different manufacturers, so you probably need to buy and measure the mattress before settling on bed dimensions.

Height off the floor would depend on what type of bed - slat base, spring wire base etc. I can't help much there except that I measured one here which is spring wire base and the mattress is 35 cm off the floor.

Buy the mattress FIRST before you build the bed.
I know of some instances where the bed was built and finding a mattress to fit was a major headache.
Also consider a 3/4 bed instead of a single - more width for a comfortable sleep. Consider the beds use later on - if you build a work of art you may not want to part with it. If it was larger other family members or guests could get use of it.
