I have one, 'tis not too bad but the keyless chuck doesn't grip as good as it should & the batteries are not marvelous, fine while new but then they develope a bad habit of not holding a charge & eventually become impossible to recharge on the fast smart (dumb) charger that comes with it.
I operated on my charger & disabled some of its 'smart' functions.
Now it charges all the time without switching off but the led still changes colour when the battery is charged, I just have to keep an eye on it so I don't cook the battery.

    Thanks Cliff,
I'll keep this in mind and if (when) the charger packs up I'll do the same.

Makita, Makita, Makita... But don't forget that they started making some models in china, and there have been negative reports, although I haven't any problems personally (yet)

It is not the charger that packs it in... it is the batteries.
The charger is too smart for its own good.
