Best cordless drill from Bunnings
Hey Guys,
I have a couple of gift vouchers for Bunnings and I was going to use them to buy a cordless drill. They don't carry the really good brands there so can anyone tell me the best out of the Bosch, Makita, Ryobi and ozito bunch. Also has the Lithium Polymer technology matured enough to be reliable - should I go for one of these instead of the Nicad/NiMh powered models.
Appreciate your help.

Look at the Bosh Lion (Lithium Ion?) there are 2 of them, a real one for about $235 & a pocket one for $69.
The realy realy realy realy realy realy realy realyr eal;yrealelkrarerjkkkkk good thing about Lion (?) is the battery.
You charge it today & chuck it in the draw & get it out a whole year later & it still has 80% of the charge left.
Just made for weekend woodies.Cliff.
If you find a post of mine that is missing a pic that you'd like to see, let me know & I'll see if I can find a copy.

They also have an Einhell 12v kit for $79, the Einhell 18v got a reasonable review in AWR a few years ago but don't know what this onje is like.
Like the others said, avoid Ozito and I will add XU1 to that.
Ignore Tonto, the managers have an umbilical cord that connects them to head orifice where decisions are made.Last edited by Iain; 23rd August 2007 at 08:55 AM. Reason: spling eraz

mitre 10 just advertsied the psr1440 green bosche 14.4v with 2 batts for $99 - so bunnings will price match. fathers day will see a few more sales over the coming week - if you have a total tools nearby, they have good fathers day sales on too - agian useful for makita and bosche that bunnings stock.
oh and the biggest advantahge in lith ion cells, is that they are now the premium product which means the prices on the nicad packs are down - value area is always with the middle ground, not the latest and greatest (no chance of me ever having a drill unused for a year!)

Makita. Love them, we have more than a dozen Makita tools in the workshop and haven't ever managed to kill one. Some of them are over 15 years old....

Makita, dewalt, bosch or metabo, any of these would be great just depends on personal requirements and taste. I own both dewalt and makita cordless drills and their both very good tools, you get what you pay for. I always buy the best I can afford.

The Makita 8270 12v cordless/hammer drill with a spare battery was on special here last week for $133 -down from regular $333. Maybe it is a model runout. Specs on the Makita site. I think a battery would cost about $133! I bought one (drill package) - then I'm weak.

Sounds like makita/Bosch/Dewalt are the best brands.
