As far as I know it grows in western Qld, bit of a shrub, usually the centre of the log is hollow.
Cheers
BarryIf it walks like a duck, talks like a duck and looks like a duck then it's a friggin duck.

Conkerberry (carissa lanceolata) - Gotta get out in the sandy country North and West of Longreach Bob. It grows as a low spreading bush and slinging a rope around the whole thing and driving off is supposed to be the best way to get the wood out - a bit spiky apparently. As Baz said, usually hollow cos the white ants like it as much as turners do - magic to turn isn't it!
There is a related species that grows all through the centre of Qld, Currant bush (carissa ovata) - but it doesn't develop a woody trunk worth using.
