Repacking Nicad battery pack for Ryobi Drill
Does anyone know of/use a battery repacking service here in Adelaide? I have a 12 volt Ryobi cordless drill with Ni-Cads that have expired. The drill is a good one and Id hate to have to chuck the thing.
Any advice would be welcome.

Martin,
My experience with repacking services was that it was not worth it.
I had a Millers Falls 24v drill and to to repack the 2 batteries was more than a new drill so I went and got an 18vMakita with 2 batteries for a bit less $.
Perhaps others have had better luck.
Regards
John

Thanks Guys,
Will cost it all out and see if its worth pursuing. I bought a new Ryobi 14.4v machine yesterday but would be nice to keep the old one as a backup.Whatever note you blow youre never more than a semitone away from the correct one....(Miles Davis)

Hello Kiwigeo,
My work has had several goes at re-packing batteries of several types - laptops, drills and a few more specialised trade bits of gear. I can honestly say that they have been less than successful and we have abandoned this approach.
MY work has an account with a company called WES Components who have a staggering range of batteries for just about anything and we have found that often they are cheaper than the re-pack.
Here is the link:

Hope this helps.

I have done a re-pack for my Hilti drill. It was the bees knees, but on the expensive side. I was only able to do one due to the cost, it was a while ago and was somewhere near $100. Maybe cheaper now.
By memory it was easy to do, each cell has a flat tag and all I did was copied the existing pack and resolder the new cells.
