    Default Hercus lathe, logo sticker

    Gentlemen,

I'm approaching the point of my lathe restoration, where the bed will be next up for stripping and re-painting.

Unfortunately, I'm not going to be able to save the original Hercus sticker, located on the left hand end of the bed, and in any case, it's damaged.

I have a colour picture of the logo, found in some Hercus material, so reproducing the logo should not be difficult, if I can find the right medium to print on.

A friend suggested using a transparent iron-on material, usually used to apply images to tee shirts, however, I don't like the idea of using heat on a newly painted bed.

I also wish to reproduce the McPhersons sticker, located at the right hand end of the bed, but don't have a decent picture to use.

If you have a Hercus, and it has this sticker, would you be kind enough to take a good snap shot and send it to me?

Anyone got any more ideas on print medium?

Attached are a couple of pictures.

    Ken

Ken, Avery sell a range of clear and metallic labels that can be printed on. I would try OfficeWorks and similar stores.

You could print on a normal self-adhesive sheet, then cover with clear transparent sheet as used on school books.

    But there is more. Peter

It may pay you to go to a badge maker who can compose new from this info to your sizes on whatever.

    G'day.
Aren't Minitech in Brisbane the Hercus agents?

Maybe try a call to them to see if the original sticker is available?
    Hooroo.

    Hi Pete,

Thanks for your input and info from Big Shed. The existing Hercus logo sticker on my lathe is damaged, so I am not able to get accurate dimensions.

    At a guess, it's about 65mm x 21mm.

Would you be kind enough to measure yours for me, and let me know?

    Regards,

    Ken

The label is 2 and 3/4 inches by 1 inch.
Heres a pic when you locate the label later, the label is 2 and 3/4 inches from the left and 3 and a 1/4 inch on the right.

Congratulations when you have finished the belt drive cover sits on it.

Have you got matches? Now youve got the makings amd cigaret paper.

Peter. Incidentally I found a cone for my Unimat er16 collet at Minitech Brisbane and they say no Hercus help try (yes I know)
    phoning Hercus Factory 08 83465522,
By the way your Mcphersons label did not appear to be the pinned one on mine, the blue background flashes in the light.Pain in the camera to get to in my place anyway.Have a rest and give us a rest.

    Hi,

There is a product called inkjet printable water-slide decal paper available from hobby shops overseas and maybe in Oz - after printing, it is applied and covered with an acrylic spray to protect the decal - maybe this will work for you if you can source some - try Google.

    Thumbs up Waterslide Decals

Hi, I read a lot here but haven't felt the need to post a reply before, but if you want decals (waterslide) I have had quite a few made for me for my racing bicycles, All one offs, reasonably priced by Ray Botten, I would imagine if people are going to get the same decal often he would make enough to sell them cheaply as compared to my one off type of thing that he does for me, you can write to him with your requirements at [email protected]. He can do pretty much anything and does not mind sending proofs till he giets it right for you, try that with a printer.

    The Copier Company

has water slide and rub on types of decal paper. Check the special.

Fit lots on half an A4 sheet.

    Default Hercus Decals

Looks good but if you aren't good with printing stuff and metalic Silver and Gold, also White are not possible with normal inkjet printer, I could give it a go but for the prices Ray ([email protected]) charges it is not worth the stress, strain or effort, he is a handy person to know for any model decals, bike decals and anything else you want to put a waterslide decal on, this is for the information of lazy b's out there like me who are happy to pay a few bucks to get a professional looking finish.

Isn't there a guy on Ebay with a lot of new Hercus spares and brass plates?. My drill has a similar brass plate with only red and black, can post a pic and measurements if you like. I like the McPherson's blue plate.

    Hi,
I am watching this thread with interest. I have a Douglas shaper I want to paint but there is a decal about oiling that I will loose because it's not removable.

Take a photo of it, that can be used to replicate a decal.
Is it the one that mentions "fibre grease"? Nobody seems to sell it.
