Thread: Jacaranda timber

Beginnerwood - As far as I'm aware, there is nothing nasty or tainting in Jacaranda, and it doesn't seem to be high in tannins (so won't get horribly stained itself) so it should be ok for cutting boards. Not sure how it would go with continual immersion, (or in the dishwasher ). Best way to find out is give a piece a good workout & see.....
I know it is very 'lively' & moves very noticeably with seasonal moisture cycles (my 'breadboarded' tabletop sticks out several mm in the Summer, then shrinks back almost an equal amout in the driest months). However, that shouldn't be a big problem with cutting boards.
