Skip Dressed
Hey everyone. Just wondering if anyone can let me know whether it is possible to buy skip dressed (roughly sawn) tasmanian oak lining board anywhere?
Came across it once and made some nice recycled furniture however cant find it again?
Any help would be good. Thanks in advance

Although I can't help you with a supplier, you could always run regular Tassie Oak flooring, or boards through the bandsaw with the set of the teeth just skimming the board, giving a rough sawn effect.

yeah thats always an option. However hoping to save the time by buying it already done. Also last time i purchased some it was cheaper then the standard grade I believe as a lower grade timber is used.

You want skip dressed... adjust the one of the blades on a thicknessor about .5mm out of whack
Rough sawn and skip dressed are 2 different stages not the same thing, I dont think you'll get a lining board with this kind of finish unless its off an antique nowdays a lining board is fully dressed.....................................................................

Well I have been told by one supplier that I can get it but I have to buy a full pack of 900l/m which I havn't got the room for.
But by the sounds of it I may have to do as you suggested with the thicknesser.

Not really sure what effect your after, But our Tassi Oak is skipped dressed at the saw mill, for grading purposes. It can be difficult to grade some board when they exit the kiln, so they are skip dressed, on one side only, (rough sawn still on the other.)
And you won't have to buy a whole pack... but your welcome too of course
Check our website for our prices and sizes.
