    Default 3" HiVi speaker project

Yayyyy Ive finished my first speakers. The Hi-Vi B3S single driver system zaphaudio.com. The speakers were sourced from Darcheraudio.com (thanks Daniel), the xover components from Jaycar and the timber is chestnut milled from a tree felled in a mates backyard.
The speakers sound sweet. They do need a sub-woofer so I jury-rigged a sub using my M&K amp and a Sony boom box nicked from my son's car.
Thes little speakers really sound mint.
My pics are too big to post directly so the links are below.

The clarity is exceptional and the bass amazing for such small drivers. Even without the sub.

I've just ordered a pair of those from Darcher. I'm going to use them in appropriate enclosures (as per Zaph's instructions with the filter) nearfield on my bedside table, running from a low powered 70's Pioneer FM receiver which fits nicely in a shelf on the table.

I've built two way floorstanders before (Peerless/Vifa) so these look like great value!

    Cheers
