    Default biscuit supplies

I hope someone can give me the name of a supplier (other than Bunnings) of size 20 biscuits. I live in North East Melbourne but am prepared to buy on the net if necessary.

Thank you friends for the prompt replies.
What has happened is I have a large quantity of biscuits SOMEWHERE . I thought I had left them in the house to avoid moisture and I can't find them in the workshop. So I'm afraid it's buy some more.

Jerry, I buy my biscuits from Carbatec. They are 1000 biscuits for $50-$70 or something like that. Cheers.

The greatest advantage is that they have some movement in the slot a mil or 2 each way allowing good alignment. Dowels have to be spot on. Also they are good for aligning panels or joining carcasses. Also much faster for multiple joints.
Not so good for a heavy duty joint such as rails to legs on tables or chair joints.

    Texx,

In General Woodworking Forum there is a whole thread on joint strength that covers what a biscut is and how strong it is. Just go to search and type in joint strength. Personally I am totally against dowels for making joints where the grain of two pieces is at right angles to each other and that is the majority of joints. Wood is incredibly weak when the end grain is glued by normal PVA glue. If you examine a dowel joint most of the dowel is being glued to end grain. Only a fine line on each side of the dowel is long grain to long grain. There have been many arguments on this point on the forums and I do not intend to get caught up in the pros and cons again. Just search and make up your own mind. Questions I will answer, as will many experienced woodworkers. Of course you will get some armchair "experts" but you always get them
