    Default Dress pine Melbourne

    Good evening all,

I am currently planning a couple of projects to tackle over the coming months and have 90mm x 90mm posts stuck in my head for the legs of various things, I like the big beefiness of a thick leg.

Everywhere I look has had timber similar to what i want for $18/m or more, Bunnings of all places had exactly what i had in mind for $50 for 2.4m.

It's quite disheartening to read articles and watch these DIY videos where American's talk about getting 4x4 timber for like $10/8'.

So my question is, is there anywhere in Melbourne that i can pick up some dressed pine for a 2/3 decent price? or is the best I'm looking at $50/2.4m.

    Thanks,
    James

    Hi James,

4x4 squares are always expensive, with any timber. But you can make your own easy enough, by buying thinner pieces of wood and laminating them together. Many of the woods I like to work with are nigh on impossible to get as squares, so laminate is the way to go.
Welcome to the Brave New World.

    Regards,

    Rob

or you could go white cypress roughsawn from Radial Timber | Durable Timbers | Outlast Timber Melbourne and dress it yourself
Some people are like slinkies - not really good for anything, but they
