Hand held bandsaw
Not sure if this is the correct forum to ask - there doesn't seem to be a 'Stupid power tool questions' forum
Are portable bandsaws such as this available/permitted in Australia?
A couple of times recently I've needed to cut some thick aluminium (10mm) and one of these would make the job oh so much easier.
I appreciate that safety rules are quite different in the USGeoff

Saw (no pun intended) one of these on foxtel last week, there was a docking station that turned it into a miniature bandsaw for table use.
Not bad looker.

When I was in the SECV (some 20 years ago) we trialled a similar bandsaw, although 2-stoke driven, for cutting conveyor rail. We went back to the (not so) portable powered hacksaws because those we could start up and walk away for a smoko while they did their thing...
Mind you, the govt being the hypocrites they are, it wouldn't surprise me if the use of these bandsaws by a non-govt agency was considered illegal even then.

eBay handheld bandsaw
I did find one locally, it's the same as the Harbour Freight one I posted earlier.
No information on how long it has been used as a demo though, and no response to the question asked of the seller.Geoff

Makita used to make one, I've been using mine for years to cut aluminium and steel (mostly RHS and pipe). Can't kill the thing. They are still on the Makita US web-site under model numbers 2107F, 2107FK & 2106 but not on the Australian site.
You may be able to pick one up second hand.
What about a jigsaw with a metal cutting blade in it?
