    Default Tight sierra twist mechanism

Made a few Sierra's today after having sold a few at work and needing to replenish my stocks

Tried some acrylics and some firewood I had lying about. Very happy with the acrylics but a couple need to be finished again...

    anyways..

putting them together tonight I've found a couple of the mechanisms are really tight to twist and not smooth like ones I've put together before. I checked each one before assembing and they seemed OK. Any ideas what might cause the mechanism to be tight when assembled? Some hardly twist, while others are fine. Any traps for young players?

I found sometimes the end cap is not in the blank straight and this has made the mechanism tight. The mechanism is perfect when its not inserted. Just got pretty tight when inserted.

Check the insides of your barrel for the slightest bit of glue, this is the biggest offender.

Its usually a bit of glue on the inside of a barrel.

You can confirm this by getting another already made sierra which works fine and swap mechanisms. If you still get the same problem with the mechanism on the original pen, then it confirms that its a bit of glue or crap on the inside of the barrel.

Get a round file and give the inside of the barrel a good clean. This should fix the problem.

If the problem is the mechanism then spray a bit of inox into the end of it. Works like a charm
