Default New Image Gallery For Hartley TS

    Hi Guys,

I've been working on something that may be of interest to a few here. I'm currently restoring an old Hartley TS16 and in looking for images on the web to get ideas, I wasn't finding much.

With the support of a number of Hartley TS16 owners and now TS18 I've set up a searchable gallery of images. It has been opened up to all TS models ie TS12, TS14, TS16, TS18 and TS21.

Hope it helps anyone looking to build or restore a Hartley TS

    Cheers,

    David.

This is a fantastic resource! Hope more class associations will do things of this type.

Actually ... there may have been some precursors, but Hartley's trailer sailers, to me are one of the obvious transition points between traditional deep keel yachts and the modern dinghy style yachts we have today.

The Hartley 16 was around 1965??? Well it took keel yachts about 20 years to catch up with the advent of the IMS rule and a break from the distorted yacht shapes of the previous era.

Modern yachts are lighter and mostly narrower for the length and have much more initial stability ... but all the main features are there in the Hartley.

    Good Luck
    Michael

    Thanks Michael

I'm sure there would be a number of Hartley owners here... I would love to get their pictures on the site as well.

    hint hint...

I imagine you would have emailed all the Hartley associations in the beginning?

There is a lot of nice information in those pics you are accumulating.

    Best wishes

    you know me to well

one of the guys from the qld multi class club is compiling a cd of members boats to send to me to load up. The response has been great.

Infact a bunch of new pics have been loaded in the last couple of days including some great pics of a TS18 called "Kari"

I bought a TS16 off AlexS earlier this year. I haven't taken any photos as I trailered her home (3000+kms) and just parked her as there's too many other projects that have precedence at the moment. If you do a search on this site in the for sale section you should find her though, there's a couple of pics from memory. Aah, found it, only one pic, but details are there too. Feel free to post her, I'll send you more pics when I get through the long list of other projects. Go here

Another milestone has been reached in that with 329 images loaded we now have images of every size except for TS12 (which I would love to rectify if anyone out there can help). The last batch of pictures were taken at the try sailing day at the Docklands sailing club. A big thanks go to all of those that let me crawl all over their boats to take pictures.
As well as having good samples of a couple of quality TS21s at different ends of the spectrum, one open plan and one with the cabin divided up, but both extremely user friendly, we also have something a little special. Passing Wind is a TS18 with a difference, it has been fitted with a 2 phase poptop cabin that's well worth a look.
Hopefully you'll be inspired and come up with some great ideas of your own that you can share with the rest of us.
    Cheers,
    David.
